Mullum Mullum Trauma Informed Course development and delivery

Who funded the project

 

Karabena Consulting was engaged to facilitate a Trauma Informed practice course for all community focused workers to support the use of tools and strategies when identifying and dealing with trauma and/or vicarious trauma.

In achieving the aim of this project, Karabena Consulting utilised a series of co-designed workshops to consider the stressors that are evident in the community, and strategies that can be used to overcome these experiences.

The project led to the development of an online training course with a curriculum focused on practical suggestions for trauma informed work, the identification of vicarious trauma among workers and strategies to de-escalate trauma events in the workplace.

Summary

 

The aim of this project is to incorporate trauma informed practices into Mullum Mullum workplace, identify and support people who are directly and indirectly affected by trauma/vicarious trauma.

To complete this project, Karabena Consulting utilised the following methodologies:

  • Group work

  • One on one sessions

  • Gender approach to trauma

  • Meditation and cultural healing practices

Project Outputs

 

In supporting the use of tools and strategies required to deal with trauma and/or vicarious trauma, Karabena Consulting was able to:

  • Promote trauma informed practice in community-controlled settings.

  • Develop strategies required to identify and de-escalate trauma events in the workplace.

  • Provide practical suggestions for trauma informed work.

  • Identify vicarious trauma among workers

  • Increase awareness on signs of trauma in people.
