Partnership Health Check Tool and Reflective Process

Who funded the project
Karabena Consulting was engaged by VACCHO through a competitive tender process to support the organisation develop a partnership evaluation tool and process, to independently measure the ‘health’ of their partnerships and the extent to which they are enabling self-determination. This involved conducting a desktop review, co-developing a partnership evaluation tool, and facilitating independent reflection workshops with VACCHO and its participating partners.
Summary
The aim of the project was to:
support VACCHO to develop a tool and process to measure the ‘health’ of their partnerships and the extent to which they are enabling self-determination
develop case studies based on the partnerships between VACCHO and their key stakeholders to reflect what quality, self-determining partnerships look like in practice
Project Aims
To complete the project, Karabena Consulting:
Conducted a desktop review of existing partnership evaluation tools and best practice principles for self-determining partnerships
Co-developed a partnership health check tool with VACCHO and its participating partners
Analysed the results of the partnership health check completed by VACCHO and its partners
Facilitated two independent reflection workshops that were attended by VACCHO and its partners
Developed a report containing two case studies to document the partnership evaluation process and learnings from the reflection workshops
Methodologies
This project has delivered an approach that VACCHO, its partners (and other Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations) can replicate and/or adapt to measure the ‘health’ of its partnerships in a respectful, culturally inclusive and reflective way.

Outputs
Through this project, Karabena Consulting has supported VACCHO and its participating partners to gain a deeper understanding of and move towards greater self-determination in their partnerships. By undertaking independent health checks and participating in reflection workshops, VACCHO and its partners have identified their partnerships’ strengths, areas of improvement and ways to strengthen their existing partnerships.
Project Outcomes
VACCHO enjoyed working with Karabena on the development of a partnership health-check tool and reflective process.
Karabena were accommodating and flexible in working with us and understanding of our changing circumstances.
Kerry’s facilitation style was warm and inclusive, creating space for everyone to participate and feel comfortable.
Communication with Karabena was always easy, assisted by the effective use of Basecamp, and deliverables were submitted to schedule.
